Charles W. Scarantino, MD, PhD
Founder and Chairman of the Board

Dr. Charles Scarantino is the principal founder and medical director of Sicel Technologies and is responsible for conceiving the novel implantable sensor technology platform. He is a radiation oncologist with Triangle Radiation Oncology Services (TROS) practicing in the Rex Healthcare Cancer Center. Dr. Scarantino received a PhD degree in cell physiology at St. John's University and an MD from Bowman Gray School of Medicine.


Michael D. Riddle
President/CEO

Michael Riddle has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry, including the marketing and sales of both capital equipment and disposable medical devices for Fortune 100 and startup phase medical companies. Most recently, Mr. Riddle served as the executive vice president of sales, marketing and business development for PharmaNetics Inc., where he was responsible for establishing strategic alliances for distribution and product development. Prior to PharmaNetics, Mr. Riddle was employed by American Home Products for seven years in various positions including vice president of sales and marketing for Sherwood Medical Devices.


H. Troy Nagle, MD, PhD
Co-Founder and Director

Dr. H. Troy Nagle is professor of electrical and computer engineering at North Carolina State University, research professor of biomedical engineering at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and a past president of the IEEE. His primary interest is in the creation of medical instrumentation systems that contain biologically important sensors; the sensor technology generated in his laboratory served as the basis for early development efforts at Sicel Technologies. Dr. Nagle received a PhD in electrical engineering from Auburn University and an MD from the University of Miami.


Jonathan Gelles, PhD
Burton Advisors

Burton Advisers Ltd. (BAL) is a London-based financial advisory company providing corporate and strategic consulting and fundraising services to the worldwide healthcare industry. Established in 1996 under the chairmanship of Dr. J. Gelles, BAL clients (predominantly North American) have interest in the biopharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical device, drug delivery and drug development arenas. BAL's funding activities, from the startup phase and beyond, have covered both public and private corporations, though all transactions have been conducted on a private placement basis.


Cheryl Sunderland
Adinvest AG

Adinvest AG is a Zurich based financial advisory and private equity investment firm. Ms. Sunderland specializes in life sciences investments and advises various international companies. Before joining Adinvest, Ms. Sunderland was global vice president at ABB, the multinational engineering group, responsible for Corporate Finance until 2000 and Value Services until 2002. Prior to joining ABB in 1992, Ms. Sunderland was a founding managing director of SFS in London, a financial services advisory firm specializing in leveraged buy-outs and corporate reconstruction. Previously she was a director of Corporate Finance at Elders Finance Group (now Fosters Brewing), arranging leveraged buy-outs and mezzanine debt. Ms Sunderland co-established the London subsidiary of Elders Finance Group after relocating from Australia where she was head of Credit for the Group. Ms. Sunderland holds degrees from Stanford and Johns Hopkins Universities.
